二輪車用新型オートマチックトランスミッション「HFT」を開発

Hondaは、二輪車用に簡単な操作でゆったりとした乗り味とダイレクト感のある走行フィーリングを高次元で実現し、伝達効率にも優れたHonda独自技術の新型オートマチックトランスミッション「油圧機械式無段変速機HFT(Human-Friendly Transmission)」を開発した。このHFTは、第40回東京モーターショーに市販予定車として公開される新型二輪車「DN-01」に搭載される。

 このHFTは、油圧機械式無段変速機をHonda独自の構造にすることで、二輪車に求められる軽量かつ、コンパクトな形状を実現。また、ライダーの要求に幅広く対応するため、一般走行をカバーする「Dモード」と、スポーツ走行を可能にする「Sモード」の、2種類のフルオートモードと、マニュアルミッション感覚の走行を可能にする「6速マニュアルモード」が選択でき、簡単な操作でゆったりとした乗り味から、アクセル操作にダイレクトに反応する俊敏なスポーツ走行まで、独自の走行フィーリングを実現している。

 Hondaは、お客様の生活に役立つ商品の提供を目的に、簡単な操作で運転のできるオートマチック技術を搭載した二輪車を開発・販売してきた。1958年にはオートマチック時代のさきがけとして自動遠心クラッチ機構を備え、クラッチ操作無しで運転のできるスーパーカブC100を発売。1977年発売のエアラ(750cc)には、大型二輪車として日本で初めてトルクコンバーターを搭載。さらに1980年発売のタクトにはHonda独自技術の無段変速機構(Vマチック)を採用するなど、様々な新機構を開発し現在に至っている。


【HFTの特徴】
HFTはひとつのユニットで多彩な機能を持つ変速機で、ひとつの軸の上に発進機能から動力伝達、そして変速機能まで持つ、コンパクトで高効率な無段変速機となっている。HFTの基本構成は、エンジンの動力を油圧に変換するオイルポンプと、その油圧を再度動力に変換して出力するオイルモーターからなり、それぞれ複数のピストンとディストリビューターバルブ、ピストンを作動させる斜板、出力軸と一体化されたシリンダーで構成され、これがHFT特有の構造となっている。
また、油圧機械式無段変速機では世界初※となるロックアップ機構を備え、巡航走行時にはこのロックアップ機構が働き、伝達効率のロスを最小限とすることで燃料消費率の向上にも寄与している。
