GSR600 designer Toshiyuki Nishino reveals all

"The GSR is not a miniature B-King, but I did integrate aspects of the B-King into its styling. The B-King's design went down a storm when it was displayed at the Tokyo Show three years ago, so it seemed a shame not to incorporate some of the style elements into a production model.

"The GSR has the same forward-crouching riding position, the silver plastic cover that blends the fuel tank with the frame spars, the imposing headlamp and the wide tank with built-in front indicators. I wanted to achieve a good balance between big muscles and small dimensions: underseat exhausts are important for this because a bulky side silencer interferes with the rear wheel and tail unit, making the bike look heavy.

"Then, rather than being all the same width like the Bandit, the bike is very curvy with a wide tank, slim seat and wide tail section. The innovative styling places the GSR ahead of its rivals."
